The Kane Chronicles series

All you need to know about

THE KANE CHRONICLES

Author : Rick Riordan

Twelve-year Carter and Sadie Kane don't seem like siblings. In fact, they're barely even friends, which might be due to the fact that they only see each other twice a year. Sadie lives in Britain with her grandparents, while Carter explores the world with his Egyptologist father, Dr Julius Kane.
But during one of their bi-yearly meetings, everything gets slightly complicated when their father blows up the British Museum and liberates four mildly annoyed gods and one murderously evil god from their confines.
Confused? Well, to be honest, they have not quite understood it as well.
But in a nutshell, Egyptian gods are alive and kicking, and they are really not the kind of people you would want to invite to your party.
And when their father releases the evil god Set from the clutches of his prison, Set banishes him to oblivion and forces the siblings to run for their lives.
After a visit from their estranged uncle and an order which has existed from the ages of the pharaohs, Carter and Sadie realise that Set is now on a wild rampage, and is deadset on destroying the world. (Same old, same old)
And then ensues a desperate quest across the globe, as the siblings strive to prevent Set's rise to victory before it's too late. Oh, and did I mention that they have two Egyptian deities stuck in their head?

My Comments

The Kane Chronicles series is one of the most underrated series written by Rick Riordan, and all one of the best. Carter and Sadie's dynamic from being completely apathetic towards each other to beginning to take care of each other like siblings do was really heartwarming to read. Other side characters in the books are also very likeable and add more depth and diversity to the story. It kept me hooked from the very beginning, and I loved every single page. Rick's incredible writing style, and these amazing characters, and of course, the engrossing plotline together made it an unforgettable experience for me.
Ideal for ages 10 to 18 (or above, which depends on your choice of genres), the Kane Chronicles series is sure to be a riveting journey for you, as it had been for me.
