The Going Wild series

All you need to know about

GOING WILD

Author : Lisa McMann

Charlie Wilde was NOT having a good time. No, not when her family was moving from the city of Chicago, where she has lived all her life, to the suburbs of Arizona. Being the new kid in high school was going to be the downright terrifying, and she was going to have to leave behind her home, her school, her friends...No, this was going to be awful.
But just when Charlie was getting into her new pattern of life (after the typical initial feeling of doom and despair) and things seemed like they were getting back to normal, everything got very weird, very fast. Oh joy.
When she found a bracelet sent to "Charlie Wilde" while unpacking, Charlie puts on the bracelet, assuming that maybe it was a "I-know things-are-not-awesome-but-good-luck-anyway!" gift from someone, but boy, was she wrong...
Soon, as Charlie realizes that the bracelet is not just cheap accessory, but an item that has given her super strength and super speed, she is prepared to dispose of the bracelet and throw it somewhere far away where she can't ever see it again.
Only problem? She can't remove it, and in a vain attempt to try, demolished a part of the bathroom.
Now, Charlie must unlock the rest of the powers in the bracelet and learn to control them soon, all while trying not to make anyone suspicious and not destroy anymore school property.
But that's just the beginning. The creators of the bracelet are hunting for the lost trinket, and they are far from friendly...

My Comments

The Going Wild trilogy is a fantastic combo of science fiction, fantasy and a blend of the animal kingdom. The book started out slowly, but started to gradually pick up pace until I just couldn't place it down! The relationship between the main protagonists Charlie, Maria and Mac is immensely satisfying, and the book was written in a way that you can completely relate with each character and understand their emotions and inner turmoil. The plot was gripping and fast paced, and the story was filled with astonishing twists over the pages. It's a typical Superhero story in it's own way, and is an incredible read for readers of ages 11 and above.
